In this teaching from Shabbat, September 5, 2026, Kraig Elliott examines faith, obedience, fear, Torah, and the unchanging faithfulness of Yehovah in Genesis 26. In Part 1 of Genesis 26, Isaac faces famine, fear, conflict, and uncertainty—but Yehovah remains faithful to the covenant He made with Abraham. Isaac is told not to go down to Egypt, but to remain where Yehovah has placed him and trust that the promised blessing will come through obedience. This chapter also reminds us that biblical faith is not separate from obedience. Abraham believed Yehovah, walked in His commandments, and trusted His promises, and Isaac is called to do the same. Yet Isaac also repeats some of his father’s failures, showing us that covenant blessing does not mean sinless maturity.
